1940's Crépe Evening Gown with Satin Neckline and Ruffle Details (M)
1940's Crépe Evening Gown with Satin Neckline and Ruffle Details (M)
Crépe gowns were popular in the 1940's because they were elegant, sophisticated, and easy to care for. Crépe is a type of fabric that is made from a tightly twisted yarn, which gives it a slightly textured appearance.
In addition to their practicality, crepe gowns were also very stylish. The soft, flowing fabric was perfect for creating the feminine silhouettes that were popular in the 1940s.
Our gown is ankle to floor length with a side zip closure. Details include a satin neckline that travels down the back creating a unique silhouette. The same satin is used as a ruffle detail down the left hip.
Bust: 36"
Waist: 28"
Hip: 38"
Nape to waist: 15.5"
Gown length: 57"
Very good vintage condition considering it's age. There is a small hole in the back left rear and a hole at the back hem. I leave these minor imperfections to be dealt with the future owner as they cannot be seen when wearing black undergarments. Dress has been priced accordingly. (see photos)
